New York, NY – R&B royalty will take center stage at The Apollo Theater’s annual Spring Benefit as music legends Babyface and Usher are set to be honored in a star-studded affair on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

Inaugural Legacy Award for Babyface

The soulful maestro Babyface, whose name is synonymous with heart-touching lyrics and melodious tunes that have defined a generation, is selected to receive the inaugural Legacy Award. Recognizing a career that has not only produced hits but has also shaped the sound of R&B, Babyface expressed his gratitude. “For nearly a century, the theater has been a constant symbol of excellence in Black entertainment. So, for The Apollo to honor my legacy feels nothing short of amazing,” shared the acclaimed singer, songwriter, and producer.

This prestigious award comes as an acknowledgment of his unwavering contribution to the music industry. On the eve of the celebration, Babyface will also be inducted into The Apollo’s Walk of Fame, joining a cadre of luminaries who have had a significant influence on culture.

Usher Receives the Icon Award

Usher, a dazzling performer whose career has spanned over two decades, will receive the Icon Award, a testament to his enduring impact on the music scene and his status as a global phenomenon. “It’s an honor to be receiving this award from such an iconic and historic cultural institution in New York City – one that has hosted and paved the way for so many prominent people,” stated an honored Usher. 90 Years of The Apollo

Anticipation builds as hip-hop legend Big Daddy Kane is scheduled to make a special appearance, among other yet-to-be-revealed stars. The event will spotlight Adam Blackstone as the musical director, a prominent figure known for his recent Primetime Emmy win.

The red carpet is slated to roll out at 5:00 p.m., leading into the night filled with glamour, performances, and tributes beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Benefit will also feature dinner and dancing hosted at 8:30 p.m, with an afterparty brought to life by the creative prowess of Apollo board member Bronson Van Wyck.
