Civil rights leader Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr. will host a daily 60-second radio commentary titled “The Good News.” The feature is the first offering from the new USBC Radio Network being launched by the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. It will initially be distributed by KMG Networks, a division of Krantz Media Group, with a distribution partnership said to be in the works with a major global audio distribution network.

Chavis is the CEO & President of the National Newspaper Publishers Association and the President of Education Online Services Corp. (EOServe Corp), a provider of online higher education for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. A former NAACP president, Dr. Chavis organized the Million Man March and co-founded the Hip Hop Summit with Russell Simmons.

“The Good News” offers “a fresh, timely, unique and brief perspective on the headline news of the day across America and throughout the world,” according to press materials.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to broadcast “The Good News” in collaboration with KMG Networks and the US Black Chambers, Inc.,” Dr. Chavis said in the announcement. “I intend to lift up those good news stories that are not being presented by other media platforms. We intend to amplify those good news stories that help to inspire and motivate positive social transformation, equality, and equity.”

In 2019 Chavis helped to shine a global spotlight on the NNPA when he began hosting “The Chavis Chronicles,” a weekly program on PBS-TV and PBS-World that’s carried in more than 90 million households.

“This collaborative endeavor marks a remarkable milestone in USBC’s unwavering mission to reimagine Black media and impactful storytelling,” said Ron Busby Sr., President & CEO, U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. “Unified, we will harness the power of radio and media to amplify our voices as well as cultivate an all-encompassing narrative for the Black community. With Dr. Ben Chavis Jr. as the esteemed host, ‘The Good News’ will foster dialogue, forge connections, and effect change which is truly exhilarating.”

Gary Krantz, CEO of KMG Networks, said the daily commentaries will be the first offering from the new USBC Radio & Media Networks set to launch in August, with more content to come in the coming months.
